Fall & Winter Wedding Trends

Autumn and winter are two of the most popular seasons to get married. Cooler temperatures, warmer color palettes and long-sleeve gowns are just a few of the reasons couples love this time of year. As our team of experts prepares for another wedding season, we’re sharing the top trends on everything from cakes and decor to what our brides cannot get enough of.

Here’s a look at what will be hot this fall and winter…

Decor Trends

Black and jewel tones are very popular colors right now. Not only is black glamorous and edgy, but it pairs perfectly with any metallic. You’ll also see more uses of rich jewel tones in everything from invitations and florals to bridesmaid dresses.

One chic material that is here to stay: acrylic. A few places we can’t stop spotting this transparent material: reception chairs and tables, head tables, escort cards, menu cards and bars.

Couples are customizing every aspect of their big day down to the tiniest details. Glassware is no exception. Blue and green hues are among the most popular selections of colored glassware that Breakers’ brides have been swooning over.

Floral Trends

Dimensional and hanging floral installations will continue to be a huge trend as designers use the ‘fifth’ wall to decorate from floor to ceiling. This includes everything from hanging masterpieces for couples to say “I Do” under, to dressing up chandeliers with greenery.

From bold blooms to exotic stems in deep rich colors, fall brings large and dramatic flowers that are perfect for statement bouquets. Popular flowers include dahlias, amaryllis and peonies

Bringing the outdoors in by incorporating greenery into your floral design is a trend we can’t get enough of. One of our favorite uses we’ve seen of foliage? Greenery and moss displayed under glass tables that were used for escort card displays and dinner tables.

Reception & Dinner Trends

With more and more couples opting to do a first look, a new trend has emerged of couples taking a majority of their portraits before the ceremony so they can enjoy more time with their guests during cocktail hour and the reception instead of missing out on time with family and friends.

The newest wedding must-have? Multiple types of live entertainment throughout your big day. Wow guests with a surprise choir performance after your first kiss as husband and wife, serenade guests as they enter dinner with a dozen violinists, have a live band perform your favorite songs throughout the evening and dance the night away at the after party with a lively DJ.

Metallic cakes are the sweet trend Breakers’ couples request time and time again. Whether an entire cake painted gold or just a few glittering tiers, Breakers’ couples love adding a little sparkle to their dessert.

Perfect for outdoor venues, an increasingly popular request has been lawn games during cocktail hour. Favorites played by guests include croquet, mini golf and corn hole.

Overall Trends
We absolutely adore the tradition of paying tribute to your heritage on your special day and Breakers’ couples agree. Michelle and Collin’s wedding favor also doubled as an Italian Wedding Tradition. Each guest was presented with five sugared almonds to represent the five wishes of health, wealth, happiness, family and a long life together for the newlyweds.

Couples know just how rare it is to have all of their loved ones and closest friends in one place and are taking full advantage of the opportunity to spend time together by hosting a weekend long celebration. Wedding weekends, which usually include a welcome party, rehearsal dinner, wedding, after party and next-day brunch, are especially popular for couples that are having a destination wedding.
