Pantone Color of the Year: Hello, Ultra Violet!

As the unquestioned authority on color, Pantone selects a new “Color of the Year” every December. Meet Ultra Violet—a dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade.

As the Pantone team shares, the 2018 Color of the Year has come to mean more than simply what’s trending in the design world. This inventive and imaginative color “communicates originality, ingenuity and visionary thinking that points us toward the future.”

Why Ultra Violet

Pantone team explains: “Complex and contemplative, Ultra Violet suggests the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now. The vast and limitless night sky is symbolic of what is possible and continues to inspire the desire to pursue a world beyond our own.”

We’re really loving Pantone’s new motto for the versatile color: “Ultra Violet lights the way to what is yet to come.”
