Just one week after Erik’s surprise vacation proposal in Manhattan, he and bride-to-be Amanda visited The Breakers for the first time. This year, the two will say “I Do” at their new favorite Palm Beach resort.

“I had heard about the magical weddings my parents had attended at The Breakers and just knew it would be the perfect place for us,” Amanda says. “As soon as we walked into The Mediterranean Ballroom, it was perfectly clear… the room is just so us! We love the gorgeous ceiling, the columns, and of course, the stunning marble floor. There was absolutely no question after that moment — we didn’t even consider another venue.”

Amanda and Erik were so enamored with the property, they returned for their engagement shoot. Take a peek at their fun day with these images by Jessi Caparella of Breathe J Photography

Self-proclaimed foodies, the couple is eager to plan their wedding dinner menu and taste the cake.

“Food is a huge part of our lives,” Amanda shares. “I grew up with a family in the food industry, and Erik loves to eat! So we always knew that food and wine would play a significant role in our wedding.”

“We are most looking forward to that first moment in the church when I walk down the aisle and see Erik for the first time,” says the excited bride-to-be. “We know that this moment will be pretty powerful and emotional.”

For Matt’s family, The Breakers is like a second home. The groom-to-be says his parents have been members for the last 10 years and he’s been visiting for almost 20. Next year, he will say “I Do” to the love of his life at one of his favorite places…

“The first time Matt took me there to see it I was hooked,” Nicole says. “When we got engaged I went to see a bunch of places but when we met Sascha LaGreca from The Breakers team, I knew we had found the place!”

Manhattan sweethearts Marisa and Jason started planning their destination wedding at The Breakers two days after the groom-to-be surprised his love with an amazing proposal in Central Park.

Engaged: Marisa & Jason

“The Breakers was our first and only choice. We fell in love with the Italian Renaissance style of the hotel, which, coupled with the beachfront setting, made it the prefect location for us,” says bride-to-be Marisa. “We also love the idea of having a full wedding weekend rather than just a wedding day, which allows us to spend more time with our friends and family who we don’t get to see very often.”

Before we share their stunning engagement photos by CM Howard Photography, we just have to share their beautiful proposal story – which happens to be the inspiration for their fabulous photoshoot…

Engaged: Marisa & Jason

Marisa and Jason got engaged in Central Park on the morning of July 23, 2011. Jason staged the surprise proposal atop Bow Bridge and even had one of his co-workers pose nearby as a tourist and film the special moment. Afterwards Marisa said “YES,” Jason led her to a breakfast picnic – complete with champagne and amazing view.

The couple’s engagement photos were taken in Central Park and the High Line – a park built on the former elevated New York Central Railroad tracks – and a few (above) on the Bow Bridge at the exact spot where they got engaged.

“We definitely always wanted a destination wedding. As much as we love NYC, the hustle and bustle of the city is less than relaxing,” Marisa says on why they choose Palm Beach. “A destination wedding allows us to decompress and relax before the wedding as well as provide our guests with a mini-vacation!”

“I am most looking forward to the first look when Jason sees me in my dress for the first time!” Beautiful bride-to-be Marisa says. “I also can’t wait to see my guests celebrating and having a great time, which will make all the planning and hard work worthwhile!”

Jason makes us melt when he explains the moment he’s most anticipating: “I can’t wait to see my beautiful bride for the first time in her wedding dress. Most importantly, I’m excited to be getting married to my best friend.”

For bride and groom-to-be Danielle and Matt, choosing to host a destination wedding in Palm Beach was the easiest wedding planning decision they’ve had to make.

Engagement shoot: Danielle & Matt
“As soon as we were engaged, the location of our wedding wasn’t even a question for us,” Danielle says. “We love the beautiful ballrooms at The Breakers, their majestic, old-world feel, and there couldn’t be a more perfect place for us to celebrate the start of our new life together.”

For their engagement session, the New Yorkers spent the day at Danielle’s family house in the Berkshires and Ambrosio Photography captured all the beautiful moments…

“I always loved the idea that to celebrate the start of the next chapter of my life I could be surrounded by all the people who matter most to me,” Danielle says. “Given that we have family and friends coming in from many different places, some of whom we see infrequently, we thought a destination wedding would be a great way to spend time with the important people in our lives for an entire weekend.”

Wedding planning is going great so far,” Danielle says. “We are working with Cheryl and Dale at The Zanadu Group who are absolutely amazing! I already got my dress and that was very exciting. I am looking forward to the menu tasting, planning the decor and bringing our vision to the timeless character of The Breakers.”
