Unless you despise relaxing in paradise, hate gazing at swaying palm trees and cringe at the idea of ogling the deep blue ocean water, than yes — a destination wedding in Palm Beach is right for you!

Is a destination wedding right for me?

What makes a destination wedding the perfect choice for one of the most important days of your life?

1. You get to travel

When you plan your destination wedding at a luxury resort like The Breakers Palm Beach, you don’t have to feel guilty when you say goodbye to that bad weather in your hometown and jet off to Florida with your bikini — and without the hassle of passports and International travel.

2. You’ll stand out from the crowd
According to Destination Weddings & Honeymoons, more than two million American couples wed every year — and fewer than 20 percent of them have destination weddings. You won’t have to worry about duplicating what your friends have done locally for their weddings.

3. You’ll have amazing décor
There isn’t a better backdrop for a wedding than the gorgeous ocean. Surrounded by palm trees, you can say “I Do” while the sea air blows through your hair…

4. Enjoy quality time with your loved ones
At most weddings, the bride and groom spend an average of four or five hours with their guests. When hosting a destination wedding, you get to spend the entire weekend relaxing with your guests on the beach, dancing the night away after the wedding and celebrating the nuptials the next day at brunch.

5. It’s easier
As we like to say: Plan your destination wedding weekend at The Breakers and you won’t have to venture off the property. You can also choose from an array of wedding packages and enhancements and an exceptional list of The Breakers’ recommended wedding professionals, making the planning process simple and exciting. At The Breakers, your vision is our vow.

In honor of this weekend’s Komen South Florida Race for the Cure® and in support for survivors and those fighting breast cancer in our community, The Breakers will light its Florentine Fountain pink Friday through Sunday night.

The Breakers Goes PINK!{A tradition of support, The Breakers PINK in January 2012}

 The Breakers is proud to participate in this year’s Race for the Cure, a tradition we’ve honored for the past 11 years!

Face the hard facts: Rates of breast cancer incidence

* 12o.9 new cases per 100,00 women *
* 1.3 per 100,00 men *
* An estimated 235,030 new cases of invasive breast cancer in 2014 *

Through events like Race for the Cure, the South Florida Susan G. Komen affiliate has invested more than $11.6 million in community breast health programs in Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie counties.

If you can’t participate in Saturday’s race, you can still make an impact and donate to Komen for the Cure South Florida. Help prevent the preventable, treat the treatable, and put an end to breast cancer forever.

Best of luck to all racers!

Just one week after Erik’s surprise vacation proposal in Manhattan, he and bride-to-be Amanda visited The Breakers for the first time. This year, the two will say “I Do” at their new favorite Palm Beach resort.

Engaged: Amanda & Erik

“I had heard about the magical weddings my parents had attended at The Breakers and just knew it would be the perfect place for us,” Amanda says. “As soon as we walked into The Mediterranean Ballroom, it was perfectly clear… the room is just so us! We love the gorgeous ceiling, the columns, and of course, the stunning marble floor. There was absolutely no question after that moment — we didn’t even consider another venue.”

Amanda and Erik were so enamored with the property, they returned for their engagement shoot. Take a peek at their fun day with these images by Jessi Caparella of Breathe J Photography

Self-proclaimed foodies, the couple is eager to plan their wedding dinner menu and taste the cake.

“Food is a huge part of our lives,” Amanda shares. “I grew up with a family in the food industry, and Erik loves to eat! So we always knew that food and wine would play a significant role in our wedding.”

“We are most looking forward to that first moment in the church when I walk down the aisle and see Erik for the first time,” says the excited bride-to-be. “We know that this moment will be pretty powerful and emotional.”
